Description
Summary:This research aims to analyze a geopolymer's performance in the non-linear range based on experimental results obtained by the finite element method. Using the Ecuadorian Construction Standard NEC-2015, whether traditional concrete or geopolymer, the seismic force portion and design spectra in frames of actual buildings in the city of Riobamba will be determined. From the structural capacity curve obtained with the structural program SAP2000 v16, the capacity spectrum is constructed, resulting from a non-linear static Pushover analysis. Finally, a comparative analysis of the performance of traditional concrete vs. a geopolymer is carried out, considering the performance levels and sectorizations proposed by Vision2000 (SEAOC, 1995) to know the ductility capacity that each one presents under increasing monotonic load requests. The result is that geopolymer as a substitute for cement in concrete formation has an adequate behavior; However, it only achieves optimal performance compared to concrete.
