Correlación del índice de estética dental y la mala oclusión dental para el diagnóstico de tratamientos ortodónticos

Today, Dental malocclusion is considered as an alteration of the dental bone structures. The main objective of this study was to determine the correlation between the dental aesthetic index and the dental malocclusion for the diagnosis of orthodontic treatment in study models donated by students of the second semester of the dental major of the Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo. It was carried out a descriptive , transversal and correlational field study, of 20 models of gypsum, which were placed in occluders and with their respective bite registers, the models are measured by the student researcher under the supervision of a tutor applying the 10 occlusal characteristics of the index, subsequent to this by means of the clinical assessment of two orthodontic experts and based on their knowledge the models were evaluated and classified in the respective degree of malocclusion. The variables used in this study were the Dental Esther index and dental malocclusion. According to the index, the values of degree of severity of dental malocclusions are represented in a majority group by grades 1,3 and 4, in the case of expert 1 was in the great majority of degree 4 and expert 2 determined the degree of malocclusion as a majority to grades 2,3 and 4. Therefore, it can be concluded that the expert 2 had a better appreciation of the measures to characterize the malocclusion.
