| Zusammenfassung: | This research aims to highlight the value of the school garden for the development of naturalistic intelligence in children at the initial sublevel 2 of the Planeta Azul Early Childhood Education Center, in the city of Riobamba. The school garden is envisioned as an active learning space, where children not only acquire knowledge related to the environment but also strengthen cognitive, emotional, and social skills through observation, experimentation, and teamwork. The methodology used had a mixed approach with qualitative prevalence and descriptive level, based on direct observation of 54 children (29 boys and 25 girls), without opting for a sample, thus working with all participants. Direct observation was applied as the main technique and, as an instrument, a structured observation sheet was used with specific indicators that allowed recording the degree of development of naturalistic intelligence in various contexts: garden activities, playground, gardens, and educational field trips. Thanks to the instrument used in the research, it was possible to obtain relevant information about the degree of environmental awareness, active participation, and knowledge of species in the children of the educational center. All the activities carried out to implement the garden have been key to also developing human skills such as respect for nature and animals, teamwork, and naturalistic intelligence. This promotes connection with the environment and, at the same time, encourages children to continue with this type of practice in their surroundings from an early age. |
