Yhteenveto:The utilization of water is influenced by various natural factors, as well as by human habits and customs. Thus, the study aims to analyze the hourly consumption of drinking water in residential areas of Puyo, Pastaza canton, Pastaza province. Thus, six distribution networks were identified: La Constructora, La Isla, Palestina 1, Palestina 2, San Vicente, and Victoria de León 1. The urban and socioeconomic characterization method by Arellano et al. (2012) was applied, resulting in strata A, B, C, and D for all distribution networks, except for network two, which only has three socioeconomic strata A, B, and C. The main factors considered to determine variations in water consumption are the number of household users, sanitary installations, storage devices, and water quality. The sample for this study consists of 402 households. Meter readings of potable water were conducted over seven days, covering all 24 hours daily, resulting in the hourly consumption curves for each distribution network. The maximum flows (Qmax) for all networks were reached at 07:00, (12:00 or 13:00), and (19:00 or 20:00) hours. The maximum flow for Puyo was obtained at 1:00 p.m., with a Qmax of 134.44 l/h in Victoria de León 1 distribution network six. Finally, the consumption coefficients (kh) were calculated based on the CPE INEN 5 standard (1992), showing that in most distribution networks, it exceeds the established range (2.0 - 2.3). The maximum consumption coefficient (kh) was obtained in La Constructora distribution network one at 12:00, with a value of 3.053.
