Zusammenfassung:This research work is aimed to give historical and cultural value of the Jumandy’s cave, located in the province of Napo, canton Archidona; which at the present time it is a natural patrimony that is not valued nor recognized by the same inhabitants of the sector, and from the compilation of the existing information and an analysis of the diagnosis it is concluded that the place is rich in culture, history and ancestral traditions. The Jumandy caves are named after the great war chief Jumandy, who took refuge in these caves to fight for the defense of his Amazonian lands from colonizers. These caves are a sacred place for the Kichwa cultures that inhabits them, since their ancestors performed healing and spiritual ceremonies connecting with Mother Nature. These ceremonies were performed with guayusa and ayahuasca. In order to ensure the revaluation of this place, an interpretation center is proposed, whose main objective is to rescue the historical memory of the Jumandy caves and to inform the citizenship about the culture of the Kichwa community, their customs, traditions, history, myths and legends. The project proposes to link modern architecture with vernacular architecture, giving an identification to the place, with an architectural design of cultural and visual impact. The design will be based on elements and materiality of the vernacular architecture of the sector, giving importance to it to make the population aware that within their lands there is a great variety of exotic materials that can be valued in construction, such as the weavings of the Amazonian palm (shapaja) and the lisan (Amazonian straw), woods of the sector such as cedar, hachacaspi, chonta among others.
