Opis
Sažetak:Rheumatic diseases are characterized by a sustained inflammatory process that can have clinical and functional expression in various organ systems of the human body. It highlights the involvement of blood vessels and Takayasu arteritis, which is a disease that generates variable degrees of functional disability and affects the patient's perception of quality of life. This research aimed to conduct a bibliographic review to characterize the clinical findings, diagnostic criteria, and treatment of Takayasu arteritis. An essential, documentary, descriptive, and transversal research was carried out, consisting of a non-systematic bibliographic review of documents published in the last five years. The universe consisted of 76 documents, of which 35 were part of the study sample. The information was collected in regional (Latindex, Lilacs, Scielo and Redalyc) and high-impact databases (Scopus, Medline, PubMed and Ice Web of Sciencie). Boolean operators and health descriptors were used to optimize the search for information. The main results include the description of the clinical findings of Takayasu arteritis, the diagnostic criteria most frequently used in clinical practice to diagnose this disease, and the main elements that are part of the therapeutic scheme used for the control of the clinical activity of Takayasu's arteritis. It is concluded that early diagnosis and timely treatment are essential to reduce the level of affectation by this disease.
