Shrnutí:The objective of this research was to relate the level of neuropsychological reading maturity in children from 5 to 6 years of age in the first and second year of elementary school at the "Unidad Educativa Chillanes". Neuropsychology is in charge of the relationship between brain structures and human behavior. Methodologically, it presents a quantitative approach, with a non-experimental design; the level was descriptive and correlational, because of the basic objectives; because of the place it is field, of transversal type. The population with which we worked were the students of first and second grade of elementary school, with a non-probabilistic intentional sampling of 27 students; 14 boys and 13 girls of the "Unidad Educativa Chillanes". For this field work, the CUMANIN test was used, which evaluates the verbal and non-verbal areas of the child, which are related to: psychomotor skills, articulatory language, expressive language, comprehensive language, spatial structuring, visual-perception, iconic memory, rhythm, verbal fluency, attention, reading and writing. It is evident that the students present a high level of neuropsychological maturity which allows a good development in the development of cognitive functions.
