Resumo:The present investigation was carried out with a qualitative, non-experimental methodology for the analysis of the visual representation of Monsignor Leonidas Proaño in his work The Theology of Liberation, closely captured by the Brazilian Sebastião Salgado, a photographer specialized in capturing different social realities, such as slavery. , racism, war, among others. Mgr Leonidas Proaño, known as the "red priest" and precursor of liberation theology in Ecuador, fought alongside indigenous communities for the revaluation of their rights and the search for freedom. Proaño gave enough courage to the indigenous communities so that they are in a constant struggle until they reach the citizen and political power they currently have. 30 photographs were taken from the personal gallery of Father Gabriel Barriga, a personal friend of Proaño, in these images he analyzed colors, postures, planes, intentionality, and together with Father Barriga, testimony and a story were added to each of the images.
