| Crynodeb: | ABSTRACT: This research aimed to analyze information related to diagnostic techniques for the detection of astrovirus causing acute gastroenteritis in children. Currently, astrovirus is the second viral agent causing acute gastroenteritis, however, it presents a mild symptomatology and consequently if it is not treated in time, it can have serious effects, so it is important the use of diagnostic tests because they identify the causal agent, safeguarding the health of the patient. By collecting information focused on the topic, health personnel have general access to find diagnostic strategies. Therefore, the study was of mixed type, descriptive – documentary, bibliographic, transversal and retrospective based on bibliographic revisions. The population was based on 120 scientific articles, the sample was obtained using the inclusion and exclusion criteria, obtaining a total of 51 articles that contributed to the compendium of information. The search for scientific articles was done by using keywords on publishing sites such as: SciELO, PubMed, Google academic, etc. It was found that the test most used in the diagnosis of astroviruses is RT - PCR, as well as the sensitivity of the tests, depends on each commercial house, while the specificity is based on the experience of the operator. The prevalence is according to gender and age since its incidence is higher in the male gender in the age between 1 - 3 years. Its main risk factors are environmental, host, food, among others. Keywords: Acute gastroenteritis, astrovirus, laboratory techniques, prevalence, children. |
