Beskrivelse
Summary:The purpose of this research project is to provide an alternative for data collection in glycemic control for diabetes mellitus by using new technologies. The need to improve data management tools and control methods arises in order to prevent partial or total loss within public and private healthcare establishments in Ecuador. By designing an IoT communication platform for diabetes mellitus control, a tool is provided to the treating physician to evaluate the body's response to various medical and dietary questions based on the monitoring of glycemic test records. The platform is based on the use of devices such as Raspberry Pi, which can connect to the Internet of Things (IoT), the use of the camera module, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) function, which converts an image into text. This allows for the registration of glucose values tested by the "accu-chek" meter, thus creating a MySQL database. By linking IoT applications such as Thingspeak and statistical analysis tools like SPSS, we can observe the graphical representation of data obtained over a period of time and analyze the patient's evolution. For example, we can establish dietary patterns based on the consumption of different products and their impact on individuals with diabetes mellitus for future cases. The development of these types of research projects aims to improve the quality of life for people with diabetes mellitus through the use of Information and Communication Technologies. The document is divided into 5 chapters. The first chapter covers the introduction, justification, problem statement, general and specific objectives. The second chapter presents the theoretical framework. The third chapter details the methodological approach and the design procedure. The fourth chapter presents the results and their interpretation. The fifth chapter includes the conclusions and recommendations reached with this research project.
