Resumo:At the global level are born approximately 372,000 children per day (CIA, 2018), the neonatal morbidity is close to 60% in under one year of age, being preterm infants with very low birth weight those who are more likely to die because they do not have immediate technological and human resources. Objective: The general purpose of the research is to determine the benefit of the kangaroo plan as a support for the growth of premature children at Ambato General Hospital in the period January-December 2018. Methodology: A descriptive, retrospective, was used techniques of exclusion and inclusion, established a sample of 149 newborns weighing less than 2500 grams and with a gestational age < 37 weeks of gestation. Results: Information was collected from 149 newborns of which 12.75% were part of the MMC. A comparison was made between those infants receiving MMC and those that do not, by comparing the weight, height, admission and discharge from the hospital considering the difference between their stockings weight is 173.10 gr, checking that the gain was greater in newborns that were part of the kangaroo method, while in the case of the variable height, it was determined a slight variation between the means of entry and exit of 4.58 cm in favor of the patients who underwent MMC Conclusion: The MMC is a useful technique in the field of care of preterm infants, this is mainly demonstrates the benefits of this application if you run it fulfilling all protocols responsibly and appropriately
