In Ecuador there are 11.58% of registered persons with a visualdefect and more precisely in the Province of Chimborazo 4.23% of people have visualimpairmentand 2.55% are of school age. People who are visually impaired have difficulty with alignment, focus, precision, mobility, and efficiency. There are different electronic devices developed in order to integrate them into educational and socio-economic processes. This research work aims to develop of an electronic reading system to improve the accessibility of basic general education students with visual disabilities andlow visionaids. The general operation of the device is made up of an ESP32-Cam module which captures the text information through its camera and converts it into an image that is processed by the processing software designed for filtering, binarization, and segmentation, aword recognitionskill and finalize with synthetizing. text-to-audio conversion. The recognition rate obtained in the tests is 76.53%,indicating that the implementation of the Reading System is efficient. |
