| সংক্ষিপ্ত: | Palliative care (PC) is considered a fundamental human right that should be incorporated into universal health coverage. PC nursing should adopt a holistic perspective based on ethical principles and solid interpersonal relationships for holistic care. Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) require PC at any level of care and are mainly in the advanced stage of the pathology. The literature review determines the palliative nursing care in patients with COPD in an advanced stage, identifies the functional, psychological, social, and ethical aspects, and establishes the nursing interventions and benefits of home care. Methodology: 131 bibliographic references were collected and analyzed from the central databases such as Elsevier, Medigraphic, Redalyc, Dialnet, SciELO, and the official websites of WHO, PAHO, and MPH. Conclusions: The review identified that the main functional and psychological manifestations in advanced stage COPD are pain, dyspnea, cough, expectoration, anxiety, and depression; in the social ones were found religion and spirituality with the respective palliative nursing care. In addition, it was possible to identify nursing professionals who assist patients in PC face various conflicting situations and ethical dilemmas such as palliative sedation and advanced directives. It was determined that the home is the best place to provide PC and accompany the COPD patient, caregiver, and family until the end of life. Ethics and Conflicts of Interest: There were no conflicts. |
