Sumari:ABSTRACT: The present work seeks to know about "THE REMITTANCES OF MIGRANTS IN THE LOCAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE MATRIZ PARISH OF THE CANTON GUAMOTE", which aims to expand the information on the use of remittances and their impact on the development of the parish. The theoretical part presents the background information on the topic, followed by a bibliographic compilation of data from the Matriz Parish, as well as a theoretical foundation with concepts and other subtopics on the variables of remittances and local development. The methodology used was quantitative and qualitative. A survey was made to 72 households regarding the income and expenses of families in the parish, number of people benefiting from remittances per household, main use of remittances, financial institutions that provide remittance withdrawal services, among others. The surveys included 18 questions, and information on remittances was requested from the former manager of the cooperative Guamote Limitada. The results of this research indicated that the vast majority of remittances are sent by parents and children, which are received through financial institutions present in the parish, thanks to the use of platforms such as Western Union, Money Gram and others. These remittances are mainly used for basic consumption, investment, payment of debts and, to a lesser extent, for collective construction. It was also determined that remittances help considerably to reduce the rates of malnutrition, illiteracy, and poverty. Finally, based on the findings obtained, an action plan was established for different actors in the parish, with the objective of promoting the appropriate use of remittances and fostering local development in the parish.
