| Summary: | Diabetes mellitus, chronic pathology that day to day has become more relevant to the world by their accelerated development due to exogenous and endogenous factors in the human being, it is important for the city of Riobamba to know the incidence of diabetes mellitus and provide updated information. For this reason, the present research was carried out in the “Hospital Andino”, there was a population of 1497 patients in the period May 2017 – June 2018, a predominance of hyperglycemia was determined in basal glucose and in postprandial glucose, in the basal glycemia test 58% a normal glucose (70-110 mg / dL), 28% (>130 mg / dL) indicates the presence of diabetes mellitus I the population, 13 % indicates the presence of hyperglycemia (111-129 mg /dL) means that the values have crossed the maximum cutoff of the reference value but nevertheless we must confirm this result and establish whether it is a systemic metabolic failure or due to various exogenous factors, therefore, it is advisable to perform a postprandial test performed on 216 patients. 17% (<140 mg / dL ) a postprandial normoglycemia was found, 6 % (> 191 mg / dL), a diabetes mellitus stands out, indicates that the pathology under is present, 78 % (141-190 mg / dL ) indicates a significant increase in the glucose reference value, which indicates that it is confirmatory of diabetes mellitus. |
