| Samenvatting: | In recent years, Ecuadorian cinema has progressively evolved in how it represents women in film productions. The present research focused on conducting a semiotic-filmic analysis of the representation of women in the film productions of the Ecuadorian director Sebastián Cordero period 2010 - 2020; same that includes "El Pescador" (2011), "Europa Report" (2013), "Sin Muertos no hay Carnaval" (2016). Analyzing them through a qualitative approach was necessary: the levels of denotation, connotation, and myth in each story. It was also vital to consider elements such as language, costumes, sociocultural context, realism, and interaction with other characters. To better understand the representation of the female character, the following are detailed: in "El Pescador," the Colombian woman is related to the dependence on patriarchal structures; in "Sin Muertos no hay Carnaval," the female character is trapped in the dynamics of power and violence; while in "Europa Report" the approach is different because women play roles of leadership and knowledge. |
