Opis
Sažetak:Asthma in pediatric patients is one of the main conditions worldwide, and Ecuador is not exempt from this pathology, which causes various symptoms that can affect the quality of life. The main objective of this bibliographic review is to search for scientific evidence on the contribution of nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle changes to improving treatment in pediatric asthmatic patients. For this study, we adopted an observational research approach that does not intervene in the pathology, allowing us to collect and describe complementary characteristics of this respiratory condition. Our qualitative approach is based on data from a wide range of studies previously conducted and documented in various databases, making it a comprehensive and credible retrospective cross-sectional study. This bibliographic review uses documents published in the last five years. Thus, 77 documents were identified, of which 40 were used in the study. The information was obtained from regional databases such as Latindex, Scielo, and Redalyc and from high-impact sources such as PubMed, Scopus, Medline, and Ice Web of Science. The main results of the search include clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic manifestations of the disease; however, emphasis is placed on prevention and lifestyle changes that are essential in reducing asthma attacks in pediatric patients. It is concluded that the diagnosis of this disease is difficult. However, it is necessary to maintain a level of permanent updating to identify the elements of clinical suspicion of the disease early, which facilitates early diagnosis and, with this and adequate treatment, minimizes the risk of complications.
