In this context, the Lara Clock, acquired in 1920, emerged as a representative symbol of the era, merging technological advances with local identity. This research analyzes the role of the Lara Clock in Riobamba's modernization process and its consolidation as a heritage site. Using a historical and heritage approach, it explores the social, cultural, and urban dynamics that allowed the clock to transcend its original function as a marker of time to become an icon of the city. The study focuses on the period between the beginning of the 20th century and the heritage recognition of the Lara Clock, examining its influence on the daily lives of Riobamba residents, its symbolic and cultural significance, and its heritage value. The methodology used is based on the historical method, employing research techniques such as bibliographic review and documentary analysis. The main conclusions highlight the importance of the Lara Clock as a testament to the modernization of Riobamba and its value as a heritage site that strengthens the city's cultural identity.
