Diagnóstico de laboratorio para Cándida Albicans en mujeres sexualmente activas

ABSTRACT: Vaginal infections are one of the leading causes of medical attention globally, being vaginal Candidiasis a cosmopolitan disease considered one of the most frequent disorders in Obstetrics and Gynecology in Latin American countries. For this reason, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in order to synthesize the information about the laboratory diagnosis for Candida Albicans in sexually active women. Fifty-five scientific articles were compiled in which the researcher collected information about epidemiology, signs, symptoms, and associated factors. After being tabulated, it was obtained the highest percentage of having contracted this pathology, is possessed by Argentina with 90%, followed by Colombia with 80% and Chile with 69.2%; the number of sexual partners, the use of contraceptives, and the consumption of antibiotics are considered the most frequent causes; Regarding the signs and symptoms, the recurrent ones are vaginal discharge, itching, and dysuria. With this premise, it was considered a relevant action the (virtual) socialization to instruct a group of sexually active women on the subject. Finally, it is advisable for students who research this type to proceed with the dissemination of the results found with the affected population
