Description
Summary:ABSTRACT: This research evaluated the thickness of the rigid pavement found in the City of Riobamba (Ecuador) bypass using feedback procedures to evaluate load distributions and whether the results were within the recommended values of the Ministry of Transport and Public Works (MTPW). The research focused on assessing the differences between the maximum axle load distribution indicated in the MTPW regulations for weights and measures and the results of the measurement of loaded axles in various types of heavy vehicles registered in the scales of the industries in the sector. An investigative technique was carried out developing based on a bibliographic review and is complemented by a field study based on observation and in-situ data collection. Video cameras were used to measure the traffic that circulated on Avenue Pedro Vicente and Avenue Monseñor Leónidas Proaño in the Media Luna sector which is one of the main areas of the Riobamba bypass. weighing was obtained by the access to the scaled of the industries of productive sector of the city as is indicated in annex 6 (figure 20 and figure 28), the capacity was made based on a statistical sample and its data was analyzed to assess the traffic travels on the pavement. In this way, the structure of the rigid pavement is compared to the existing thickness using a heavy traffic load projection according to the values investigated at the end of the life period proposed for the year 2031.
