Shrnutí:The location of mobile nodes in a wireless sensor network is an application widely investigated in recent years. It has allowed the development of location technology with a high-tech accuracy; however, that sort of technology has increased hardware costs. Specifically, as software, it turns useless to other applications that can function in the same network. For this reason, a wireless sensor network design has been proposed, based on ZigBee. It allows applying some location algorithms at a reduced cost without interfering with other applications that the network may develop. These algorithms are based on range-based metrics (RSSI and AOA), which must be bought and processed by MatLab software for subsequent application within the location algorithms in it. Therefore, it should be noted that these metrics were selected through a study which stated that they are very reliable and an additional hardware is not needed. Those may probably increase the cost of the network. In a nutshell, the results were evaluated, based on the performance parameters of the location systems. They showed significant and acceptable results with a lower network cost, while compared with other location systems.
