Opis
Sažetak:Appendicitis is a common surgical emergency, representing a significant cause of morbidity, and its surgical management can be performed using open or laparoscopic techniques. Objective: To conduct an updated literature review comparing the use of open surgical technique with laparoscopic technique in the treatment of acute appendicitis. Methodology: A systematic review was conducted, analyzing previous studies by searching for information in literary databases, encompassing publications from 2020 to 2025. Results: The LA showed a prompt recovery of the patient, with a shorter hospital stay and less post-operative pain compared to OA. Similarly, complications were significantly lower in the LA group. Finally, most studies agree that LA was considered the most favorable and effective. Conclusions: The laparoscopic technique is superior to the open technique due to its lower incidence of complications, postoperative pain, and required recovery time for the patient. Although the surgical time for LA may vary based on the grade of appendicitis and the surgeon's experience, its benefits are evident, as shown by a lower percentage of complications among patients who underwent the procedure compared to those who underwent the open technique.
