Análisis de los determinantes socio-demográficos del desempleo femenino en la ciudad de Riobamba, zona urbana, año 2023

ABSTRACT: The main objective of this study was to identify the sociodemographic variables that affect the probability of female unemployment in the urban area of Riobamba during the year 2023. An investigation was carried out to achieve it through a survey directed at the urban EAP of the city. In addition, the selection of the indicators was based on a theoretical and scientific review, together with a descriptive analysis of possible sociodemographic factors, culminating in using the Probit econometric technique. The results obtained supported the proposed hypothesis, confirming that certain sociodemographic factors have a significant influence on the probability of female unemployment; the factors that stood out were marital status, educational level, work experience, head of household, presence of minor children, and average monthly spending. Furthermore, it was found that occupational segregation, based on traditional gender roles, plays a relevant role in the perpetuation of inequalities in the labor market. These results highlight the importance of considering sociodemographic aspects in the analysis of female unemployment and underscore the need to address occupational segregation to promote better equal employment opportunities for women in Riobamba.
