Summary: | ABSTRACT: Monosodium urate crystals are formed from the crystallization of uric acid in synovial fluid, this being the gold standard for diagnosing Gout. Hyperuricemia is not always related to this disease since various pathologies can cause it. The objective of this research was to investigate the importance of blood uric acid analysis and the study of joint fluid for the detection of monosodium urate crystals to help diagnose Gout disease. A qualitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional, and retrospective documentary research was applied because it focuses on analyzing information from different scientific databases related to the subject of study, describing each fundamental parameter for understanding. This inquiry was carried out through a bibliographic review in different databases, using keywords such as "La Gout," "Uric Acid Crystals," and "Hyperuricemia," among others, yielding a population of 150 articles of which a sample of 112 was obtained applying Inclusion and exclusion criteria. For the diagnosis of this pathology, two elementary tests are carried out, the first being a biochemical test and the second a synovial fluid test. With the analysis of all the scientific articles, it is concluded that the measurement of uric acid and the finding of monosodium urate crystals in the joint fluid can be carried out as support for diagnosing gouty arthritis. |
