Beskrivelse
Summary:Diabetic foot ulcers are one of the most severe complications of diabetes mellitus. They are associated with a high risk of infection, amputation, and functional impairment. In response, Negative Pressure Therapy (NPT) has established itself as an innovative therapeutic alternative. Its mechanism of action stimulates tissue regeneration by applying controlled subatmospheric pressure to the wound bed. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of NPT in treating wounds caused by diabetic foot. This is a documentary, retrospective, and descriptive study based on a review of scientific literature available in online databases. The systematic review was conducted in Medline (through PubMed), Scopus, and PEDro. It focused on randomized controlled clinical trials and applied inclusion, exclusion, and methodological evaluation criteria according to the Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro) scale. The results of a search of articles published between 2015 and 2025 indicate that NPWT is an effective and safe alternative for managing diabetic foot ulcers. The information gathered demonstrates that this method accelerates healing, reduces lesion size and depth, improves tissue perfusion, and decreases the risk of infections and amputations. Its effectiveness increases when combined with other complementary treatments. These include platelet-rich plasma or antimicrobial dressings.
