Zusammenfassung:ABSTRACT: Acute pancreatitis is a pathology characterized by an inflammatory process of the pancreas due to multifactorial causes. Among these, cholelithiasis stands out with the highest prevalence in women and alcohol in men. During the disease, there may be local and systemic complications. The objective of this work is to document the bibliographically updated diagnosis and treatment of complications associated with acute pancreatitis. For this, a bibliographic review of the last four years was carried out, which included the search for information in academic summaries such as UpToDate and DynaMed, as well as scientific articles in databases such as PubMed, Epistemonikos, and Embase, in Spanish and English. Keywords were established as the search base according to MeSH terminology and Boolean operators. To conclude, the leading local complications to consider are peripancreatic fluid collections, necrotizing pancreatitis, acute necrotic collections, and wall necrosis. In contrast, the systemic ones include exacerbation of underlying chronic pathology (cardiac, pulmonary, hepatic, renal), vascular complications (shock, hypotension, ascites), respiratory complications (hypoxemia, pleural effusion, ARDS, renal, hepatic, metabolic, and intestinal complications. Keywords: Acute pancreatitis, diagnosis, treatment, complications. (MeSH)
