Description
Summary:Drinking water systems do not meet the current needs of the cantons at the national level since population growth has generated supply problems in terms of service provision. It is considered that residential drinking water consumption is influenced by demographic, economic, and water quality factors, resulting in constant variability in this record. Therefore, in this study, we analyzed the historical records in the residential sector of the Azogues canton and manually filtered the data in Excel. Descriptive analysis of variance ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparisons were applied using Minitab software to determine the level of statistical significance. In this way, the maximum and minimum consumptions of the canton were obtained, as well as the historical averages, which were used to calculate the coefficient of variation Kd. From the above, the study area presents variability in consumption due to various factors, in this case, the affectation of the Tabacay river and the lack of intervention by the authorities to provide a solution to the inadequate use of the river. The purpose of this study is to lay the foundations for the future design of drinking water since these structures or designs are based on assumptions and are subject to errors in the system.
