| Zusammenfassung: | Tibial periostitis, also known as medial tibial stress syndrome (SETM), is one of the most common consequences of exercise-induced pain in the lower extremities among physical activity practitioners, such as runners and military personnel in training. a semiotic event generated by repetitive mechanical stress injuries in the medial region of the tibia. One of the objectives of this research work is to validate the effectiveness of physical therapy techniques and modalities in the treatment of tibial periostitis in athletes through a systematic review. In the methodology, it is necessary to detail that the 32 studies that participated in the research activity were obtained through scientific databases that guarantee the quality and research impact, which determines that the majority of randomized clinical trials, longitudinal studies, cohort studies, Prospective series of consecutive cases and clinical case reports were taken from Medline, ELSEVIER, SciELO and Google Scholar. They complied with the established time parameters, from 2014 to 2024. On the other hand, the methodological assessment was also carried out using the PEDro scale, which accredited the quality of the clinical trial, taking into account that they must be greater to 6 points for greater validity. While, for longitudinal studies, prospective series of consecutive cases, cohort studies and clinical case reports, the modified Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used, taking into account that these are validated with a score of 7 or more to consider a good study. In most clinical trials, the authors help us to more accurately identify and differentiate the structural properties and mechanism of the injury in order to adequately address the treatment for patients. Physical therapy plays a crucial role in the management of shin splints in athletes, offering a comprehensive approach that treats pain, improves functionality, and prevents future injuries. The success of the treatment lies in the collaboration between the physiotherapist and the athlete, as well as in following the recommendations and exercise programs with discipline. |
