Las manifestaciones culturales de la parroquia San Juan de Pastocalle de la provincia de Cotopaxi

The present research entitled Cultural manifestations of the parish of San Juan de Pastocalle in the province of Cotopaxi, aimed to analyze the cultural manifestations of the parish, identifying their contribution to the strengthening of identity. Some theoretical foundations on cultural heritage, collective identity and globalization were investigated, highlighting the importance of values, beliefs and social practices as key elements of intangible cultural heritage.The problem that is evident in this project is the lack of interest and in some cases the lack of knowledge of the cultural manifestations that the parish of San Juan de Pastocalle has, especially among young people. This phenomenon is linked to the growing use of digital technologies and the influence of globalization on the social dynamics of the parish. The methodology used was qualitative, using techniques such as interviews and direct observation to collect data from key actors in the community, including representatives of the GADP and local resident leaders. The results identified cultural geographic elements that constitute symbols of identity for the parish, such as the snowy mountains of Ilinizas, the festivities in honor of San Juan Bautista, Holy Week, which are important for the community. At the conclusion of the research, it is stated that cultural manifestations are an essential component of the collective identity of San Juan de Pastocalle and that their preservation requires participatory strategies that involve all sectors of the community
