| Čoahkkáigeassu: | The current research project aims to determine the concentration of vehicle gas emissions using the Evaluation of the International Vehicle Emission (IVE) in Riobamba during 2022. Routes from first and second order were selected considering rural and urban areas without exceeding the town’s geographical limit. For each route, three socioeconomic zones were assigned, which include arterial thoroughfare, residential roads, and highways for a representative counting of vehicles. Therefore, six vehicle categories were identified: bus, truck, pickup truck, jeep/SUV, sedan, and taxi, from which the fuel, driving, and leaving conditions were determined. Thus, it was necessary to gather information about time, speed, and altitude second by second through the route paths per vehicle category to obtain VSP bins. Furthermore, the town’s climatic conditions and automobile air-conditioning were collected as data. These variables were necessary to calculate six contaminating criteria (CO, VOC, VOCs, NOx, Sox, y PM) and two climate change contaminating (CO2 and CH2). Once the pollutants concentrations were obtained with the IVE model, an emission inventory was carried out to interpret such results through spatial disaggregation, which allows the distribution of each pollutant in Riobamba’s routes and the temporal disaggregation of them during the day. The main result of this research showed that in Riobamba, there is a total of 499.732,19 tons/año from which 72,19% of the emissions belong to CO2 and 22,56% to CO. Being the sedan is the category with a higher concentration of emissions released by vehicles. |
