| Shrnutí: | Introduction: Obesity and overweight are caused by an abnormal build up fat that is diagnosed using the Body Mass Index (BMI); They are caused by an increase in the intake of foods rich in fat and by a decrease in physical activity, causes that can be preventable. Objectives: Promote health education to control overweight and obesity in the adult population from San Gerardo, 2019-2020. Material and methods: A direct-descriptive investigation of the adult population from San Gerardo was carried out through medical records taking into account weight and height data, patients between 20 and 59 years of age to determine their BMI and categorize them, to carry out educational talks. Results: Of the total of 213 patients between 20 and 59 years old, was found that 156 people were diagnosed with overweight and obesity, corresponding to 73.24%, where the age with the highest incidence is between 55 and 59 years, with the male sex being most affected. , in this group of people the overweight grade 1 was the one that prevailed; In addition, was determined that these people suffer associated pathologies such as hypertension and diabetes, being their main cause poor diet and sedentary lifestyle, educational talks were held which improved knowledge about their lifestyle. Conclusions: The evaluation of overweight and obesity allow to carry out educational talks aimed at improving the lifestyle of patients. |
