Material and methods: A direct-descriptive investigation of the adult population from San Gerardo was carried out through medical records taking into account weight and height data, patients between 20 and 59 years of age to determine their BMI and categorize them, to carry out educational talks. Results: Of the total of 213 patients between 20 and 59 years old, was found that 156 people were diagnosed with overweight and obesity, corresponding to 73.24%, where the age with the highest incidence is between 55 and 59 years, with the male sex being most affected. , in this group of people the overweight grade 1 was the one that prevailed; In addition, was determined that these people suffer associated pathologies such as hypertension and diabetes, being their main cause poor diet and sedentary lifestyle, educational talks were held which improved knowledge about their lifestyle. Conclusions: The evaluation of overweight and obesity allow to carry out educational talks aimed at improving the lifestyle of patients. |

Objetivos: Fomentar educación en salud para control de sobrepeso y obesidad en la población adulta San Gerardo, 2019-2020. Material y métodos: Se realizó una investigación directa-descriptiva a la población adulta de San Gerardo mediante historias clínicas tomando en cuenta datos de peso y estatura, a pacientes entre 20 y 59 años para determinar su IMC y categorizarlos, para realizar las charlas educativas. Resultados: Del total de 213 pacientes entre 20 y 59 años se encontró que 156 personas fueron diagnosticadas con sobrepeso y obesidad correspondiente al 73,24%, donde la edad con mayor incidencia es de los 55 a 59 años, siendo el sexo masculino más afectado, en este grupo de personas el sobrepeso grado I fue el que predominó; además se determinó que estas personas sufren patologías asociadas como hipertensión y diabetes, siendo su principal causa la mala alimentación y el sedentarismo, fueron realizadas las charlas educativas las cuales mejoraron el conocimiento sobre su estilo de vida.
