Seguridad Turística en el volcán el Altar, parroquia Quimiag, cantón Riobamba, provincia de Chimborazo.

Safety is a crucial aspect of tourism development, not only because of its importance in local economic growth but also because of its role in promoting education. This research project aims to analyze tourism safety in the El Altar volcano to improve the tourist experience in the Quimiag parish, Riobamba canton, Chimborazo province. The analysis considers various dimensions of safety, such as health, physical integrity, psychological integrity, and economic integrity, and evaluates them through specific indicators. The research is based on an exhaustive review of academic papers, articles, theses, and other relevant sources. A descriptive-level study was carried out, employing documentary and observational research, with a cross-sectional and non-experimental design under a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative). It should be noted that surveys and interviews were used as data collection tools. The surveys were applied to tourists who visited the El Altar volcano. At the same time, the interviews were conducted with seven members of the public and private sectors linked to the tourism sector in the city of Riobamba. The results of the surveys concluded that national tourists consider the Altar Volcano an ideal destination for tourism and photography but do not have the proper tourist security in place. Most do not consider the importance of tourism security for the development of a safe tourist destination and for tourists' decision-making. Therefore, it is necessary to implement strategies that mitigate risks and reinforce the protection of visitors.
