| Summary: | This research aims to analyze the behavior of inflation and unemployment rates under the study of the Phillips curve in 14 Latin American countries during the period 2000-2018, where empirical and theoretical evidence is considered about the inverse relationship in the short and long-term among the variables, likewise control variables such as: money supply, final household consumption and government spending are added to the proposed model of multiple linear regression by ordinary least squares, having as a first result that inflation and unemployment they present a direct and non-significant relationship, on the other hand, when applying estimates of fixed effects, the result changed and an inverse and significant relationship was established at 10% between inflation and unemployment, which complies with the theory about the Phillips curve. However, the theory of the Phillips curve depends directly on the conditions of each country and its unification entails interpretive difficulties. |
