Summary:ABSTRACT: Prenatal care is a set of interventions programmed and assisted by health personnel, administered to the pregnant woman to guide various self-care activities to maintain maternal health, fetal development, and obtaining a live birth in optimal conditions. According to the identified dimensions, several recommendations for the practice of healthy lifestyles are presented: recognition of the physiological changes of pregnancy, alarm signs, education on healthy and nutritious food, the importance of supplements, physical activity, total restriction of the consumption of toxic substances, the importance of vaccination, breastfeeding counseling, sexual counseling, and family planning methods. The objective was to determine the nursing actions in the regulations of prenatal control programs in Latin America. A systematic review of documents published in clinical practice guidelines, protocols, manuals, standards, programs, electronic databases, books, and reports was carried out as a reliable source of storage and scientific content from national and international organizations. Finally, at the Latin American level, the primary nursing interventions were determined: assessment of risk factors, monitoring of vital signs, fetal movements, fetal heart rate, fundal height, Leopold maneuvers, and promotion of self-care in the identification of danger signs, nutrition, assessment and maintenance of weight, micronutrient counseling, physical exercise, prohibition and abandonment of narcotics, recommended vaccines, benefits of breastfeeding and contraceptive methods. Keywords: prenatal control, pregnancy, nursing care, self-care.
