Achoimre:Experimental activity, an essential component for learning Chemistry, plays a vital role in students' academic formation; however, in many educational institutions in the city of Riobamba, this strategy is not applied. An example of this can be seen in the Unidad Educativa "Cap. Edmundo Chiriboga", where there is a total disconnection of the theoretical contents with the experimental part during the teaching of this subject, bringing a low academic performance, little interest, and a passive attitude in the classroom. For this reason, it is proposed to analyze the experimental activity as a strategy for learning Chemistry, in order to promote the construction of new truly significant knowledge, which turns out to be substantial in the formation of the learners. It worked with 29 students from the first year of the "H" parallel unified general high school, period September 2019- March 2020. The research design was non-experimental with three types of investigations: field, bibliographic, and longitudinal, along with the descriptive level and applying the inductive, deductive, analysis, and synthesis method. When analyzing the results, it was concluded that the application of experimental activities turned out to be an excellent strategy for the active and significant learning of Chemistry because 97% of the students managed to master and to reach the required learning after the application of experimental activities; therefore, it is recommended to design and to apply experimental activities in the educational institutions of the city of Riobamba; in such a way, that they contribute to strengthening the process of active and significant learning of Chemistry.
