Shrnutí: | Citizen participation is the fundamental axis in the operation of open public spaces; the dynamism that is created in them leads to the development of the context and getting people to interact with the space, this is a challenge that all planners face. That is why there is a need to propose new planning strategies with the introduction of citizen participation, not as an optional axis but as something indispensable. Participatory planning goes beyond consultation and leads the participants to get involved in the design process, making sure that all needs are solved, while fostering the relationship between society and the administration, thus creating a collaborative model where both sides win. The objective of this research is that, through planning phases and participation mechanisms based on an analysis and review of bibliographic, international, national, and local sources, a model of citizen participation is generated for the planning of open public spaces. in the city of Riobamba. For the participation model, the strategic lines were established first, understanding that everything must be within a collaborative method, followed by the approach of a planning process that breaks down 15 phases and concludes with 8 participation mechanisms within the aforementioned process. The citizen participation model is a useful tool to implement a different system in the planning of open public spaces in the city, proposing the option that the processes be open to the citizenry, knowing that with participatory planning the options of understanding the space open public are more complete than carrying out isolated processes |
