Sumari: | This research analyzes the ethics and use of algorithms in content distribution platforms on the Facebook page of the media outlet Diario “La Prensa,” with the objective of understanding how the social network's algorithms influence the selection and visibility of information by examining the impact, transparency, impartiality, and diversity of content presented to users. Additionally, it analyzes the ethical implications of content personalization, evaluating the media outlet's commitment to journalistic ethics. The methodology employed is mixed, involving both quantitative and qualitative aspects through content analysis matrices. Furthermore, interviews with three experts provide insights on the topic. The results indicate that news articles are the most common content, generating the highest number of interactions. The ethical assessment shows high levels of honesty, social responsibility, and fairness, highlighting the media outlet's dedication to transparency. Moreover, the implementation of algorithms is essential for maximizing the visibility of news, achieving a considerable organic reach. Publications with higher interaction demonstrate that tailoring content to user preferences enhances audience engagement. Similarly, a discrepancy among specialists was detected regarding whether algorithms create "information bubbles." Although most agree that they impact content visibility, it is also noted that they should be interpreted as tools to enhance content relevance |
