LA MUJER EN LA POLÍTICA EL CASO DE MARÍA MURGUEYTIO PRIMERA ALCALDESA DE RIOBAMBA.

This research seeks to investigate the role that women play in society, since ancient times it has been excluded in the political system, taking away the value that really generates and produces thanks to their skills. Women had little representation not only as voters, but also in the occupation of different management positions, whether in elected positions, in public administration, the private sector or the academic world. This context disagrees with their unquestionable capacity as leaders, agents of change, and obtaining equal participation in democratic governance. Currently, there is a change in favor of women, just as they have been incorporated into the public environment, inserting themselves into productive work in social community action more slowly in the political sphere. However, the environment of discrimination and subordination (gender relations) in which they live continues and this decreases the chances of achieving the individual development of society as a whole. The participation of women in different social and political spheres has been and is considered as a central strategy that favors the construction of gender equity and the expansion of democracy. The main objective of this study is to investigate the participation of women in politics, through an extensive study on the case of María Murgueytio, first mayor of Riobamba, to identify the role of women. Being the woman an important entity to develop activities with the same capacity and success with which the men develop it, it is intended to float the fundamental role that women have in the life of human beings, since time passes and Women leave the house and go to work to be better and to contribute to the well-being of their homes and contribute their knowledge to the development of society. In the first chapter, the problem statement will be developed, taking into account background and important events that will help to design the general objective and the specific objectives that will support the project, as well as the justification. In the second chapter, in the state of the art, the different theories that will support the theme will be taken into account. Women in politics, who have excelled in Ecuadorian politics or who have left their mark in one way or another. The third chapter details the methodology that will be used to carry out this research, it will be historical and hemographic, as well as research techniques, such as interviews. The results of the research project, analysis of the interviews, linked to the biography of María Murgueytio, first female mayor of the city of Riobamba and Ecuador will be presented in the fourth chapter. In the fifth chapter the conclusions and recommendations are presented, which will be of great contribution to our society.
