The main objective was to propose a methodological approach that ensures the preservation of religious architectural heritage, contributing to the protection of local cultural identity and the sustainability of these spaces. The research was divided into several phases: First, the theoretical references supporting the project were identified based on international and national heritage conservation principles. Subsequently, the current state of religious buildings in Riobamba was diagnosed, historical and architectural information was gathered, and the main stylistic and constructive characteristics were characterized. This evaluation facilitated the identification of the need for intervention and the establishment of a priority action plan. The proposed manual was presented as a detailed guide for the conservation, restoration, and adaptive reuse of religious buildings, focusing on the preservation of the authenticity and integrity of each building. The project also includes a legal framework based on local and national regulations and financing strategies that guarantee the economic viability of the interventions. The project highlights the importance of community participation, promoting awareness-raising activities and the involvement of society in the preservation process. As a result, the thesis contributes to revitalizing the historic center of Riobamba, offering a model of comprehensive management of architectural heritage that can be replicated in other cities with similar characteristics. The proposal not only ensures the protection of cultural assets but also promotes the cultural and tourist development of the region. |
