Shrnutí:The present research work was carried out with the objective of analyzing the effectiveness of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and glass ionomer to obturate the lateral root perforations, thus determining microfiltration. In addition, a study of 20 uniladicular dental organs was preented, both maxillary and mandibular. It was observed that their roots are in good condition and at the same time they were preserved in 10% formaldehyde after extraction, in order to preserve the structures of the samples until their use. The dental roots were cleaned with Gray curettes No 1-2, 3-4 for anterior teeth. Continuing with the process, teeth were opened so that the root canals were located with K - file files to chek for good permeability. Then, a lateral root performing with a 2mmround bur was carried out. Next, glass ionomer and the MTA were prepared, according to the manufacturer`s instructions and specifications, and placed in theholes. The samples were submerged in physiological solution for the respective setting of the sealing materials for 24 hours in a stove at 37°C simulating the oral cavity. Finally, samples were put in a preparation with methylene blue using test tubes, to later determine in the stereo microscope the amount of microfiltration and which of the two materials is more suitable for the sealing of a lateral perforation before diaphanization.
