Yhteenveto:The present research work, entitled "Urban music and its cultural influence: case of the young people of the parish of San Juan de Chimborazo, period June-December 2017", was designed with the aim of determining the cultural influence of urban music in the case of the young people of the parish of San Juan de Chimborazo. It begins with the approach to the problem and the definition of the general and specific objectives, to continue with the theoretical framework such as communication theories: the functionalist theory and anthropological theory, also raised issues that speak of music and its cultural influence. The research methodology used was the descriptive and analytical method, population and sample; in this case, the population surveyed was 320 young people between the ages of 15 and 29, using data collection techniques and instruments and procedural techniques for the analysis of the results. The data obtained through the surveys were used to determine the conclusions and recommendations. This research is of great impact since 93% of these young people listen to urban music, leaving aside their traditional music. In addition, the research population states that 65% of urban music can influence anyone, even their cultural identity. For this reason, the recommendations are addressed to the bodies in charge of the rural parish of San Juan and to the media so that they can accompany the formation of young people.
