Тойм:Introduction: Burnout is considered pathology in response to prolonged exposure to stressors, whether personal, emotional, or occupational, they can lead to professional failure, psychological, and physical health problems too. Objective: To establish the determinants of Burnout Syndrome in physicians of the Gynecology and Internal Medicine services of the Hospital General Docente Riobamba. Material and Methods: A descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional and retrospective study was carried out, with the population of treating physicians, residents and internal rotating doctors of Gynecology and Internal Medicine services, with the application of surveys. Results: The prevalence of Burnout is 26%. More than 50% of the population is between 20-29 years old, female, single, with 1-3 children, they perform recreation 2-4 times a week, they are rotating interns of medicine, they do not perform teaching activities, they belong to the area of Gynecology, they have 1 job, they work less than 1 year, without extra work, they are in agreement with the profession and with the salary. Burnout was associated with sex, recreation per week, work area, number of patients attended per day, extra work, they accept their salary and profession; there was no association with the other variables. Conclusions: The prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in the services of Gynecology and Internal Medicine of the Hospital General Docente Riobamba is moderately high, it is associated with the sociodemographic factors, sex, recreation per week, and work area, patients attended to the day, extra work, conformity with salary and profession.
