| Тойм: | The preparation of this document is intended to generate an architectural proposal for the colonial ruins of the San Francisco convent. Through this proposal, the objective is to revalue and raise awareness about the importance of preserving the area’s-built heritage, as it is believed that these remains belong to the era of the mythical and tragic town of Riobamba. The new use of these ruins is intended to stimulate cultural, tourist, and economic revitalization in the area. A qualitative methodology has been employed to achieve this, utilizing theoretical documentary research and fieldwork as data collection methods. The research development is divided into phases, further reflected in later objectives. The theoretical foundation is based on the perspectives and theories of prominent figures in restoration history, such as John Ruskin and Viollet-le-Duc, and more modern views from figures like Boito and Giovanonni. Additionally, the study draws upon references such as the Musealización of the archaeological site of Praca Nova at the St. Jorge castle by João Luís Carrilho da Graça and the Roman Theater of Sagunto by Manuel Portaceli and Giorgio Grassi. This analysis will guide the formulation of architectural proposals and strategies. Field documentation, on the other hand, is based on the urban diagnosis of the sector, determining the ideal architectural program for the proposal, and assessing the state of the ruins to establish their historical and heritage value, which is crucial for planning their intervention. Ultimately, the architectural proposal arises from the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data gathered throughout the project development process, adapting to its environment and addressing the needs of the local inhabitants. |
