This process is presented with the delimitation of the city's urban perimeter in the 70s, which gives rise to sectors such as Z30 that are disconnected from the town. In the present investigation, the urban evolution of the Z30 sector, located in the northeast of the city of Riobamba, is analyzed. Through the compilation of documentary and historical information about the sector, a chronology is established that is interpreted through an analysis matrix, identifying the growth process and the characteristics that lead to its current urban layout. The investigation begins from the theoretical foundation on urban evolution, which will help understand the growth of peripheral areas, followed by the collection of documentary and historical data. These allowed the identification of each of the sites that make up its layout and later individually analyzed the data obtained from each project, thus providing a chronological order of events that review the urban evolution of the Z30 sector. Finally, it concludes with elaborating a timeline that shows the characteristics of evolution in the Z30 sector, identifying the causes that lead to its current irregular layout.
