Summary:The present work was carried out at the “Hospital General Docente Ambato”, during the period of April 2018 to August 2018, with the aim of determine the level of knowledge of Nursing staff for post-cesarean care; A descriptive, cross-sectional study with a mixed approach. The sample is consisted of 11 nurses from the Obstetric Center area and 10 nurses from the Maternity area. Two surveys were used, one for the Obstetric Center area and another for the Maternity area to assess the level of knowledge about post-cesarean care, which was validated by experts. After applying the instruments, we proceeded to tabulate the data and create tables for their respective analysis and discussion. Among the most important results it can be mentioned that 73% of the respondents from the Obstetric Center area and 70% of the Maternity area do not know the specific care with regard to assessing the Homans’ sign, being a sign of great importance for assess deep vein thrombosis, in addition in terms of related aspects to the management of the post-cesarean patient´s pain, 57% of respondents have adequate knowledge; as well as 90% of the participants in the maternity service know what surgical wound care is , and 80% realize how to advise correctly at the time of discharge.
