Lasit fáddágilkoriid | Čoahkkáigeassu: | The purpose of this research is to diagnose the current state of the Riobamba city under the declaration of Ciudad Universitaria, like Cuenca. Therefore, the diagnosis of 19 indicators divided into 6 categories carried out, through urban analysis, bibliographic research and application of surveys directed to university students in Riobamba and Cuenca. Subsequently, the two case studies compared, focusing the University City indicators efficiently with the model proposed by Dr. Jaime Astudillo. Within the results of the urban analysis, it determined that the city of Riobamba does not fulfil all the characteristics of an efficient university city, showing a deficit in investment endowment in the innovative scientific field, public spaces that influence social and cultural diversity of the university community, low quality of student housing, low quality of life such as the lack of green areas, poor sustainable mobility and lack of treatment of natural resources. This comparison places Riobamba as a city that fairly meets these efficiency characteristics, unlike Cuenca that does, therefore, it is concluded that a planning that contains guidelines focused on the weaknesses shown in this research will strengthen Riobamba as a university city |
