| Samenvatting: | ABSTRACT: Since the beginning of dental practice, dentists have been exposed to pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, etcetera. They were vulnerable to contagion through direct or indirect contact with surfaces, instruments, and the same aerosols generated in dental practice. (7) Since preventive measures are relevant, the dentist needs to consider the concepts of COVID-19. Therefore, they must adhere to the necessary control measures to prevent their spread. Furthermore, they can adopt new habits before, during, and after the consultation that reinforce biosafety for a dental practice, either in a general or specialized way. (7)(3) This qualitative research aims to determine the methods and biosafety equipment used by dentists in private practice in the city of Riobamba. For the statistical calculations, the Excel program was used and corresponded to the sampling applied in a survey and the observational part to a population of 100 dentists in the private practice of the city of Riobamba, with the following results: As for the biosafety standards generally used by dentists in the city of Riobamba in private practice before Covid-19, we can observe, according to the statisticians, a high level of compliance. It was possible to determine the biosecurity elements to avoid possible contagion of covid-19 that the most used and used correctly are: the use of a mask, face mask, and gloves. It was verified observationally on biosafety barriers that 100% of the professionals use disposable gloves. Of the biosafety measures, most put into practice is hand washing, in the first place, the use of an autoclave. Regarding biosafety levels specifically, we verified the concordance of the response of the items in the observational part. It can observe: "Performs hand washing" with 98%, YES and 2% NO; "Disinfects shoes" with a YES 88% and NO 12%; "Keep a minimum distance of 2 meters" with a YES 80% and NO 20%; "Instructs the patient to rinse mouth before their dental procedure", reflects the following data: YES 62% and NO 38; "Use autoclave" with 90% YES and 10% NO.
