Resumo:The present research was carried out empirically, where the main objective is to analyze whether remittances influence poverty reduction in the period 1990-2021 in Ecuador, using the ARDL autoregressive distributed lag econometric model, which seeks to analyze the relationship that exists in the short and long term between the chosen variables. From the study of the economic variables and after applying the ARDL model, the main results obtained indicate that remittances contribute to poverty reduction, thus concluding that in Ecuador in the period in question the hypothesis that remittances are a preferential instrument for poverty reduction is fulfilled, having a favorable result for the inverse relationship that, for every 1% that remittances vary, poverty will reduce by 1.42% for the short term, but for the long term, for every 1% that remittances vary, poverty will reduce by 1.42% for the short run, however for the long run for every 1% change in remittances poverty will reduce by 2.42%.
