description Foodborne diseases represent a public health problem, there are microorganisms capable of surviving adverse environmental conditions to develop later in a host, the objective of this work was to determine the human intestinal parasites that contaminate fruits and vegetables in the San Andrés parish, which due to their physical characteristics are more exposed to contamination 14.38%. In the statistical study of the fruits, it is verified, contamination with protozoa 67.12% and absence of helminths, while in the vegetables it is verified greater contamination by protozoa 68.97% than by helminths 26.44%. Possible factors are discussed and therefore they are more efficient vehicles of parasites. The research is quantitative, cross-sectional, with an exploratory scope, with a non-experimental and field design. 320 samples were collected 146 fruits and 174 vegetables from the different points of sale of the parish, the method used was direct examination and sedimentation, 70.63% of samples contaminated with enter parasites were detected, the majority was contaminated with protozoa 68.13% , in contrast to the percentage of helminths of risk of parasitic contamination of fruits and vegetables, considering the contamination of crops through irrigation canals, fertilization with excreta from parasitized animals, washing with contaminated water before sale, and inadequate handling by of the people who harvest and market these products. The result of the investigation was socialized to the community, on a prevention plan to control the transmission of human intestinal parasites
